Happily designing & directing art since 1983. I am vintage but always interested in the new. I feel fortunate to work in in a field that is ever changing, never boring (unlike my bio). Jim (Leonard) and I married in 1991 and function in a sort of creative yin and yang. Our daughters, Elsa and Margaret love to draw and play creatively. Will they grow up to follow in our footsteps? I don’t know but hope they choose a path as fulfilling as the one I happened upon.
Favorite Quote:
Almost anything from “O’Brother Where Art Thou?” Ulysses Everett McGill: [Upon being startled awake] “How's my hair?” And “I don't want Fop, #$^&**(! I'm a Dapper Dan man!” I feel that way about Aveda Be Curly. Of course that’s this week’s fave. I love movies.
Favorite Music: Showtunes when I can sing along. Anything you can dance to. Live music in a small venue, like ClefWorks or in a night spot!
I create: an organized mess.
I connect with: quirkiness.
Trashy TV Addiction: Watching old movies over and over again. Just how many times can you cry when Miss Celie’s children and sister arrive from Africa.
Why I love the business: Design is an exercise in problem solving. The thornier a problem is more I love it. (Love )That top of the roller coaster moment before a deadline when you feel yourself rushing toward a conclusion/solution. Ideas come faster then. Wheeee! Suddenly it is over. You stop get the spray mount and black board, prepare for presentation, then remember the ride.
The place I most connect with: Sitting on my porch at home. I love going anywhere, especially if I’ve never been there, but feel like all is right with the world if I can sit, read and enjoy a glass of wine.
Raving about:Ted talks, Very Short List
Back in the day: I let our pony in the house to watch the Preakness on TV
Honk if you Love: happy accidents.
